EBICS security services via PassPort

Overview

In Axway Financial Exchange, EBICS Server uses the security services of Axway PassPort for:

Storage:
- Bank certificates and associated private keys for authentication and encryption
- User certificates for authentication, encryption and signatures
Validation:
- Bank encryption certificates when the bank deciphers messages
- Bank authentication certificates when the bank authenticates messages
- User signature certificates during verification of the user signatures
- User authentication certificates during user authentication
- User encryption certificates when messages are deciphered

Setting up communication between EBICS Server and PassPort

To enable exchanges between EBICS Server and PassPort, you must execute tasks on both products:

In the PassPort user interface, create a Technical user for EBICS in PassPort
Working on the machine where you installed EBICS Server, modify the EBICS Server configuration file

In addition, if you use PassPort AM for user registry you must:

Create Business users for EBICS in PassPort
Configure connectivity between EBICS Server and PassPort AM. Refer to:

Configuring exchanges

Administrative users of the EBICS Server manage security through the EBICS user interface. In normal operations, there is no need for any direct action in PassPort. The PassPort user interface and its associated tools are only necessary when an exceptional maintenance action or repair is necessary.
